About Me

Michelle is a fine artist living and working in the West of Ireland. Her work is inspired by the landscape and seascape that surround her, particularly the freedom and unpredictability of the Atlantic Ocean. She works primarily in oil painting and drawing, using these mediums to explore themes of emotion, memory, and connection to place.
Michelle began her formal art education at the National College of Art and Design (NCAD) in Dublin, where she was accepted into the Painting programme. However, she later chose to pursue a career in Science. During her time as a student, she continued to create: designing murals, posters, and logos for local businesses and arts events. As well as hosting annual painting solo exhibitions, around Galway City.
She went on to complete a Ph.D. in Neuroscience and now works in academic research. Alongside this, painting and drawing have remained a consistent part of her life and creative practice. Making art allows her to reconnect with herself and with the landscape around her in a way that feels grounding and energising.
Her current work reflects her experience of living in the West of Ireland. Through impressionist forms and bold, expressive marks, she aims to translate a deep sense of peace and presence found in the natural world. She hopes to create pieces that invite stillness, curiosity, and emotional connection in those who view them.
